Confidence and Patience??

I have to tell you this is my very first blog. It has taken some time to build up my own confidence in myself to write this. I set a time table to someone when they asked me when, and I must say by doing that, it lit the fire under my own rump to meet that time. So here goes....
For the first time in almost a decade we have, in my opinion, a president, who I voted for, who I listen to each time he speaks, who I think is very intelligent and progressive, that is HONESTLY trying very hard to make very needed changes in our country, for all Americans. I realize not all Americans want these changes. But it benefits the majority. I squirm in my seat when he is called an idiot, or an elitist. I'm amazed at the nit pick, grandstanding, spinning that goes on in the media, the public's comments on sites. What happened to "We voted this man in, let him do his job"
It amazes me how people elected or none elected shout about the spending, and the debt for future generations, but don't want any changes in health care in this country. Don't they understand that the status quo will contribute to the future debt for our grandchildren. The education issue will also add to the future debt for our grandchildren.
I banter with my 30 yr old son, who much to my dismay is a Glen Beck, Rush follower. We can only e-mail our discussions, never face to face because we argue loudly. Conservative in my growing up days meant frugality, no wasting. But we didn't stick to an idea just because it was the conservative way. There are many gray areas in life and changes to be made according to what presents itself. I think you have to be progressive, and look to the future, and if it means stepping into a new path for the better, for all, or the majority of all of us, then we go down a new road.
The road we have been hiking on certainly took us to a very undesirable location. This president wants to hike on a different road, and I think we should explore this road with him.

  2. Now you know how conservatives felt to hear the media blasting Bush all the time, ridiculing him for his lack of eloquence --his democrat-like compassionate spending, mainly because they wanted him defeated by liberals since mainstream media IS liberal.

The reason media is giving Obama a hard time NOW is because he is scaring the bejeevers out of them by spending as much money in his first month as Bush did in his first 5 years --after they made national debt an issue. And Because there are so few tax payers in the country and they are also the job generators. If you kill your employer class with taxes, including your small business people, you will get fewer tax payers, drive businesses under --and in the end, get less money into the tax coffers for your national health care plan.

Whereas, everytime they reduce taxes, they have stimulated the economy and caused unemployment to go down. What we need is stimulus to create jobs in the private sector --not gov't jobs to be paid for by the shrinking private sector and borrowed money.

Even some democrats know this --but voted democrat merely for the social issues and their hatred for the religious right on the social issues. Now even THEY are apprehensive about socialism and increased gov't spending and increased taxation on the job creators. As they are also disappointed that Obama does seem to understand, after all, the threat of terrorism and our priorities in the middle east.

Whatever Obama does, I hope it works, but it's easy to doubt that gov't jobs and high taxes will take us into prosperity.

Healthcare would be better served if people had jobs with which to buy insurance --if congress would get the lawyers off the doctors' backs and reduce expense of defensive medicine, if employers could get tax breaks for helping to provide health insurance for employees --instead of being threatened with ever-higher taxes.

  3. Congrats on the first post. When I started, which was less than a year ago, one person said watch out because it's addictive. I've found that to be an accurate warning. But I'm definitely not complaining. My idea in the beginning was to write about what interests me and I've pretty much stuck with that.

    All the best.

  5. I have been blogging for over 3 years now.
My first tenative posting was a walk at night with my dog and seeing the moon rise from behind the hill...The moon was so brilliant, I thought it was a fire.
My dog was a puppie then and now he's pretty big and kind of smart.
My blog has evolved from one thing to another, I thought I had a focus then, but it has become a conduit for the evolution of my creativity, obsessions and ideas.
I have the attitude that I don't care how many people look at it or what they think of it.
That is kind of liberating...and it carries over into my daily life.
    Bon Chance!
    Je vai revienir!
